i love holidays (who doesn't!) but i absolutely hate flying. i am dreading the 24 hour journey to the US of A sometime next month. Christoph Niemann has illustrated his thoughts while flying from New York to Berlin (Abt 8-9 hours?) perrrrfectly. But Christoph try 24 hours. The thought of it makes me go pale.

we are going for the cosmopolitan look for our flat (i hope that's final). it's moody and perhaps a little dramatic. am going to document what i like about the pictures of interiors i put up from now on.

like: white piping on the couch and the marble coffee table with barely there legs.

like: the dark wood floor, clean lines throughout the space that doesnt get your eyes

running all over the place and so is calming in a way and of course i love the neutral white walls.

hello dearies! sorry for the disappearance. i went for a weekend getaway at bintan, indonesia with my family. it was nice. was instantly drawn to the turquoise beach, white sand and sea breeze.

nothing beats lying on a hammock the entire afternoon with a can of ice cold light indonesian beer, bintang. the 5% pilsner has a malt and hop flavour. been drinking lots of those! we also celebrated my niece's one yr old birthday. hopefully the parents wouldn't mind me posting a pic or 2 of her in the blog sometime soon.

while lazing in our villa, the hubz and i caught into the wild that was shown in HBO. a film directed by Sean Penn. it had a powerful msg and probably one of the best movies we've ever watched. chris mccandles learns too late that one must love and fear nature in equal measure, and that happiness is meaningless without someone with whom to share it. love!

what does valentine's day mean to you? over here in singapore its largely commercialised. restaurants and florists seize upon the chance to make money. i for one have never celebrated valentine's day because it irritates me(!) this year valentine's day falls on the first day of the chinese new year (where most shops/restaurants are closed) in chinese majority singapore. they have to decide if they should stay open (to make money!) or closed.

to take advantage of the long weekend, the hubz and i are spending our time in the ritz carlton singapore complete with skyline views from the bed AND the bath-tub. am SO excited. will sneak in some champagne.

A New Year.

yeah, it's been ages since i last updated. the last thing i'd want is for this blog to die a slow death. besides, i AM on a roll today.

it's time to head out after work but, it's the weekend you see *phew* so i thought i'd just say hello. i've moved to a new department at work and will be doing mainly corporate events. i was thrilled as this is an area of interest as opposed to implementing and drafting policies *gag* ; i feel like i've been given a second chance. love the creative part of my job but hate the logistical nightmare but, part & parcel of every job.

on a personal level, i am getting used to sharing a bed and life with somebody. although its been almost 5(?) mths. i don't tink this is a cause for worry, but anyhoos, can't wait for our new flat to be ready.

a new year. indeed.

apologies for the lack of posts lately. it's been pretty hectic running around, shopping for gifts, wrapping, doing up our wedding album (it's almost ready!) i never seem to be done with it being the perfectionist that i am. christmas was special this year with family (+ hubs) & close friends. everyone absolutely loved their gifts.

career wise, things (hopefully) are looking up. i'l be posted to a another dept as a training manager, planning and conceptualising networking events, roadshows, seminars, doing publicity+marketing. lots of handing over, lots of work expected in the coming wks. so till then, have a great new year! i will attempt to post some pics real soon.

was looking through some pics that were taken during our wedding planning process. i kinda miss that stage in my life. each day i was exploring ideas, searching thru fantastic blogs for pictures that resonated with my ideas, and if i did find that picture, oh my. the excitement - i miss it. the fresh brainwaves of how we could make our wedding a little more special, a little more different than everyone elses'.

i've got friends who have started baby blogs to document the growing up years of their babies that are so precious. i stumbled upon 500 pieces of prudent advice for my baby daughter, and that i tell you, is genius. i'm making a mental note. heh. favorites that resonate with me.

#161 live alone for a period of time. I love living with you and your father; I also cherish the years I spent living alone. You shouldn't go from being someone's daughter to someone's wife to someone's mother without first being someone yourself. Living alone will allow you to discover who you are when no one is watching, what you need to get through a day, and ultimately that you are a capable, independent woman.

#178 the thing about makeup is you want to look like you aren't wearing any. You really don't need to wear makeup, but if you want to (when you are older) that's fine. A coat of mascara and a little blush are the two cosmetics that work best to subtly accentuate your natural features. If you want to even out your skin tone with some foundation, just make sure it's the right shade and blend it well.

It’s essential that you not worry about what you look like while you’re dancing; it would be a shame if you were so self-conscious that you couldn’t less loose!

#211 stop when it’s done. with any creative pursuit, learning when to stop is part of the challenge; this type of editing can be what separates ordinary from excellent. It's very easy to make an oil painting muddy, an essay over-complicated, or a stir-fry mushy by not realizing when the work is complete.
